About
Emma Alexandra is a contemporary artist from Aotearoa New Zealand. The last few years she has been living between Italy and UK.
She combines elements of realism with her own impressions, ideas and imagination.
Emma works in a variety of mediums, including oil paint, graphite, charcoal and pure pigment. She draws her inspiration from impressions of nature, people and the land, often playing with the line between tangible and ethereal. She is drawn to mysteries of nature, both everyday rhythms and natural phenomena.
Emma also paints portrait commissions, seeking to capture depth, emotion and what makes individuals unique.
She learnt to paint portraits from her aunt who was an artist in San Gimignano. She studied at Elam in New Zealand and the ateliers in Florence, Italy.
She has exhibited in Italy, London and New Zealand, twice as a Parkin Prize finalist.
Emma is currently available for limited commissions and collaborations and would love to hear from you.
